Privacy Policy

RuckON ("we", "us") is a fitness community app for ruckers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls you have over it. By using RuckON you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information

Email address, display name, username, and password (passwords are stored hashed with bcrypt and never visible to us).
If you sign in with Apple, we receive a verified email and a stable Apple user ID. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Optional profile fields you enter: gender, body weight, location (city/region), bio, and avatar image.

Activity and content

Rucks you log: distance, duration, pack weight, calories, elevation gain, notes, effort rating, optional photos, and a private/public flag.
GPS route coordinates (only when you choose to track a ruck). Coordinates falling inside any privacy zone you create are stripped before the ruck is saved.
Social activity: posts, comments, likes, friend requests, community memberships, event RSVPs, challenge participation, blocks, and reports.

Device and technical information

Push notification token (Apple/Google push services) so we can deliver alerts you opted into.
Basic request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.

Subscription information

If you purchase Ruck On Pro, we receive your purchase receipt, subscription status, renewal date, and a subscription provider customer ID. We do not receive your full payment card number.

2. How we use your information

To create and operate your account and to authenticate you.
To compute your rucking stats, ranks, streaks, achievements, and leaderboards.
To deliver the social feed, friend suggestions, communities, events, and challenges you ask to see.
To send you transactional messages (email verification, password reset) and the push notifications you have enabled.
To process subscription purchases and entitle you to premium features.
To enforce our Terms of Use, prevent abuse, respond to reports, and comply with legal obligations.
To deliver and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram).

3. Who we share data with

We share data with the following service providers and advertising partners:

Sharing data with Meta for advertising purposes may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California and other US state privacy laws. You have the right to opt out — see Section 8 below.

We may also disclose information when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RuckON, our users, or the public.

4. Your privacy controls

Private rucks: mark any ruck as private and it will not appear in any feed, leaderboard, or other user’s profile.
Privacy zones: create up to 5 geographic zones (e.g. your home). Any GPS coordinates inside a zone are removed from the saved route.
Block: block any user to hide their content from you and prevent them from interacting with you.
Report: report content that violates our rules; reports go to our moderation queue and are reviewed within 24 hours.
Notifications: turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings.
Account deletion: delete your account from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, rucks, comments, posts, likes, friendships, blocks, communities you created, events you created, and challenges you created, in a single database transaction. Deletion cannot be undone.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we hard-delete owned rows immediately and aggregated/derived data within 30 days. Backups are rotated within 30 days. Server access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.

6. Children

RuckON is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

7. International users

RuckON is operated from the United States. By using the service you consent to your information being processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from your country.

8. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

If you reside in the EU/EEA, UK, or a US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in-app (edit your profile, delete content, delete your account under Settings → Danger Zone).

Right to opt out of targeted advertising: To opt out of the sharing of your data with Meta for advertising purposes, email support@ruckon.fit with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." You may also adjust your ad preferences directly in your Facebook or Instagram account settings, or use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out at optout.aboutads.info.

For other privacy requests, email support@ruckon.fit and we will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and the "Effective date" above will be updated. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
